today, after lunch, two jws stopped by to offer us the latest magazines.
my husband was the one who answered the door, i was getting ready for work.
he invited them in for a good talk, but they refused.
Dear Cellist,
Makes me glad that I, a fader of recent times, live in a gated community! NO calls of any sort from elders during my 6-month absense, though I've known most of them for thirty years. Who knows what the morrow will bring?
My minor in Conservatory was cello---what do you think of Jacqueline DuPre'?

i am speaking with a wonderful person about the jehovah's witnesses and she has asked myself and my wife who we think the "agency" that fulfills the lord's will upon the earth is.
my question is, do the jehovah's witnesses think that their watchtower organization is this "agency" or is it christ's church on the earth.
furthermore, where is the scripture reference that this is taken from.

driving down the road yesterday, i got this flash of bad memory in my brain hardrive about commenting at the meetings, especially the wt.
i think back to all the squirming those poor children did at the meeting.
now, i remember, i was internally squirming much of the time.
Dear Treshappy,
For the most part, my hand was ignored, especially after a talk was given linking apostasy and brothers who give good comments. My hand would still go up because we were told by the FDS to comment. Never once was I approached as to what bad behavior placed me in no-comments-from-you hell. At one BS, there were only the conductor, a sister and I. The brother read the paragraphs and said both prayers. At a later time I asked him about this. Because he was, at heart, a kind man, I didn't want to harm him; however, he was very unsettled over my question. He answered that he was not certain that I was a good reader, so it was better that he should read. The prayer part is obvious: I was deemed "not in good standing," IMHO.

Dear Friends,
Thank you for your replies. No, my question was not intended to broach the subject of any conspiracy theory. My thoughts and conclusions are unimportant. I, as previously mentioned, sell art, pictures with images of animals in rocks and trees. There is no question whatsoever what is there. There is a variety of art called the nut genre variety. WT art is part of that classification and has been called by observers, other than myself, "clever." It has given some people what the French call a "frisson", or shiver up their spine. That is what happened at my presentation yesterday. It created a palpable reaction. I only wanted to know if YOU saw a blue, claw-like hand; no theories, HONEST! Just the facts, Ma'm!
Thanx,

Dear Top Hat:
I'm sorry that I cannot scan the page, as I have no scanner. I hope somehow you can locate a copy. So many of the WT books got the 451 Fahrenheit treatment. Thank you for responding. CoCo
Dear Elsewhere:
Thank you for the scan of the context. Does your copy have an illustration at top of a heavenly Jesus et al with pottery-smashing scepters in hand? My concern is in the artistic detail that can be easily overlooked due to interest centered upon the text. Sorry for any confusion. Thank you for your reply. CoCo
i want to thank everyone here for all the help and kind words offered to me as i adjust to having worth.
i guess i have a long way to go and i guess i'm going to have to go and see a counselor like someone else suggested.. no matter how hard i work or what i accomplish, i still feel so ugly and i'm still afraid of the stupidest things.
i don't know if my fears are on par with paranoia, but they are definitely distracting and i need to get some outside assistance.. the good news is that around here, with people who've gone through the same, i feel better.
Hey Abandoned!
Not to downplay the ugly, but do you want to hear something really beautiful? On my way to a WT ART presentation yesterday, I happened by a weekend-only special sale of grand pianos in our little village. I sat at a huge, $50 000 Steinway and played Clair de Lune and one of my own pieces. Incredible! I was offered a free ticket---$50---to the evening's piano recital but had other commitments. BTW, great poem! More later about your music, OK?

Dear Gill,
What do you notice about the associate king's left "hand"? (at the scepter's center) People do or don't see things the same way. This was the only item that all agreed on.
Thanx,

Dear Blondie,
"...will they [the guests] remember the music as reflecting that the couple were doing everything in THE NAME OF JESUS?" [emphasis added] --- Col. 3:17
Not Jehovah?!?!? It's a refreshing change to give the Son a little recognition. Will the WT convert to Christianity? Will there be fallout over this?
A friend told me the other day how much his elderly mother enjoyed the little gathering of friends come together to discuss the WT study articles. This was quite a few years ago. When Brother RULES-and-REGS got wind of the dear and happy, little "Bible" study group's nefarious undercover sessions, he put an abrupt end to them. His mum was a genteel lady of the never-complain-never-explain school. But this outrage really got to her.
Take care of that ear, Blondie.
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Dear Readers of Revelation,
I have been reminded that a simple question is more effective than an elaborate presentation. I have become very careful about what I say and how much I say to most people. Well, let's say I do try to weigh my words and not just blurt out what's at the front of my mind awaiting release from my mouth. When discussing points from JWD, I have found that even disfellowshiped persons can be very defensive of "Jehovah's Organization" and quite incredulous at what I tell them. I just returned from a discussion and presentation of Watchtower Art. I seemed to be striking nary a responsive chord until I asked, "What do you see here, grasping the scepter?" (to the left of the King Jesus Christ, hip-level, is an associate king's _ _ _ _ holding the scepter) I will only say at this point that the predominate question asked, after gasps of recognition, was "WHY?" I apologize in advance for any offense my question---"what do you, Dear JWD member, see here?"---causes. But as a seller of an extremely popular form of art, I am accustomed to explaining what is happening "below the surface" and answering the usual questions that follow. Watchtower art has been described as very clever. "Clever" is the most innocuous word that I have ever seen used regarding anything Watchtower-related.
